So many people are touting smoothies as the way to go for diet and weight loss and health, and anything else they can throw in there. But is it true?
Hell yes it is. Yogis have been on the green smoothie tip for ages. The benefit of blending your greens is the basic idea that breaking them up allows more nutrients into your system with a high volume of veggies. It’s an easy way to eat 2 cups of kale or dark leafy lettuce. And they’re delicious.
Harley Pasternak, the Canadian trainer famous for his “5 Factor Diet” has just released a new Body Reset Diet book that’s basically a way to wipe the slate clean through smoothies. And because he’s doing it, there’s suddenly a lot of attention on smoothies.
Here’s one of my favourites, I’ve been having for breakfast for ages. It’s low calorie and it’s filling. You’ll need a juicer and a blender, so this one’s for the folks out there who are already juicing and blending their way to bliss.

GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPE
1/2 lime peeled
2 apples, any type except granny Smith
1/2 a pineapple
1/2 medium cucumber
1/2 ripe avocado
1 teaspoon of wheatgrass powder
1 teaspoon of spirulina powder
1 capsule of acidophilus powder
Juice the apples, lime, pineapple and cucumber. Place the juice in a blender with spirulina, wheatgrass and acidophilus powder, avocado and ice and blend till it’s thick and tasty.
This smoothie is thick and filling but the taste is light and refreshing.
