Yoga for Muladhara Chakra

Posted by in Chakras

Muladhara is the root. It’s located at the base of your body-for women it’s behind our cervix, for men it’s the perineum. For my own visualization, I just picture my butt hole. When we say, “root down”, in yoga and you’re sitting, picture your anus rooting into the floor like a electric connection to the earth. Ak’Bol Yoga Retreat, Ambergris Caye, Belize

Belize is gorgeous. 90,000 people on a piece of land about twice the size of Jamaica, maybe a bit more, and almost half of it is protected natural reserve. They love their environment there and the locals, who range from American looking white people to Caribbean dreads, to squat Mayans, know a lot about nature. Belize and the Cayes are known for snorkelling since it’s the largest reef…read more

It takes about 5 minutes to get a little session in and it completely balances the brain and focuses the mind in a way that will leave you with that sweet chilled out feeling like you’ve just smoked the yoga joint. I learned it initially in my 200 hour training with Tribe Yoga…read more

Getting My Chant On With Yoga’s Rockstar-Krishna Das

It’s been 6 years since Krishna Das has been through Toronto. And I had the pleasure of seeing him at Metro Hall, a stunningly gorgeous gothic church with a few hundred other old hippies. Who’s Krishna Das? This white guy right here. He’s the best selling western call-and-response artist of all time, he’s even been nominated for a Grammy. He also sounds a bit like Dave Matthews if that’s your thing. So Kirtan is a form of Bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion. There’s a lot of chanting in all Bhakti…read more
